The Hi-Flying Gport-G43B is a 4G + BLE industrial DTU (Data Transfer Unit) module designed for IoT/industrial telemetry applications. From available documentation, it’s positioned as a serial-to-cellular gateway that supports:

  • 4G LTE connectivity (likely CAT1/CAT4 depending on SKU)
  • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
  • UART/Serial interface for connecting embedded controllers (PLC, MCU, sensors)

My experience

i was searching for a 4G module to use in an ESP32 project. i didn’t find many affordable ones. Did see another module mentioned multiple times. But i found this module on Aliexpress for about €18, and even though it didn’t seem that popular, i wanted to try it out. It seemed like a solid product to me. Bought the EU one “Gport-G43B-EA” on Aliexpress.

i want an ESP32 to send data via 4G. Decided to use MQTT because Home Assistant has a native discovery protocol for MQTT sensor & devices. I’m still in the development stage. So far, it’s looking good.

interfacing to the Gport-G43B is done with a specialized AT commandset via a serial interface. i had contact with their support, and they were glad to help out, pointing me to their download pages and giving hints on what to test for.
