At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness (It was like an emergency room lobby on the front porch. Did Jesus turn them away? No.) and laying his hands on each one, he healed them. Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah. (Luke 4:41)
Why’s that? You probably don’t want the local witches or satanic cult telling people Christ Alone is a good place to go to church. It’s not good publicity. Jesus had no need or desire for the testimony of demons. He was doing just fine on his own, obviously. Word was spreading quickly as the whole town descended upon the home of Peter the fisherman. Needy people were going to Jesus, and he miraculously gave them what they’re bodies needed.
