Alissa spent most of her life in pain. At 15, a doctor told her she had the spine of a 70-year-old. By her twenties she was in a wheelchair, her joints dislocating in her sleep, and she was managing a classroom in braces. Well-meaning Christians told her she must not have enough faith. By 2021, she had stopped hoping.

In this episode of God Breaking In, Alissa shares:

• What 22 years of unanswered prayer did to her faith • Why she told God He didn’t care, and how He answered • The stranger in church with her exact disease, same braces and same scars • Why neither she nor the pastor believed she would be healed that night • Actual footage from the night she ran around the sanctuary • Did the healing last? What a surgeon discovered years later • Why she now thanks God for the 22 years of waiting

Stay for Breaking It Open, where Jan unpacks Luke 18 and what to do when you’ve prayed for the same thing for years and you’re still waiting.

Never stop or change prescribed medication without your doctor’s guidance.

This episode discusses suicide. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or thinking about suicide, call or text 988 in Canada or the U.S., or contact your local emergency services.
