Discipleship, what it means to be a disciple of Jesus, difference between a Christian and a disciple, biblical discipleship teaching, how to grow spiritually, Deliverance Diaries discipleship episode

What does it actually mean to be a disciple of Jesus, not just a Christian? In this teaching episode of Deliverance Diaries, Karla Callan sits down with David, a pastor of nearly thirty years with a PhD and decades of experience discipling people across multiple churches, to break down what true discipleship looks like and why so many believers never receive it.

Are most Christians actually disciples of Jesus? No. David explains that across five denominations he has served in, a significant portion of the church has never truly been discipled and does not know what that means.

What is the difference between going to church and being a disciple? Going to church means attending services and Bible studies. Being a disciple means Jesus governs every part of your life, not just the parts that are convenient.

Why does discipleship matter after you get free through deliverance? Getting free is only the beginning. Without discipleship, there is no growth, no direction, and no lasting transformation.

This episode covers the telltale signs of a disciple versus a churchgoer, why discipleship has quietly dropped off as a church priority, and practical steps for anyone ready to start walking this path for the first time.
