The Bureau of Engraving and Printing sells them through the official government website, priced above face value as collectibles. Every note can be cut out and spent. Handing the whole sheet to a cashier is also valid, though they will silently curse you.

Thank you, friend. I really needed the visual of going to the bank and making a down payment on a house with some big fucking currency sheet that are completely uncut. I am forever in your debt.
Seems like a good thing to have a few of on hand for malicious compliance payments.
I don’t know what limits you have on coins, but use as many as you can instead. The bills are priced above face value but the coins aren’t and they’re usually heavier.
When I worked at a grocery store, there was a guy who paid for his purchase with a bag of quarters, and had to spend several minutes counting and checking the amount.
So unless you counted them out beforehand, you’d also be inconveniencing yourself (and the other people in line)
It is a funny bit, though
I thought there was a dude who tried to malicious comply in pennies and the payment got rejected. I wouldnt think that would be possible with these bill sheets since it’s not onorous to count.
There are probably 0 cashiers who will except this for a sale of goods lmao
That’s why you go to a sit down restaurant, leave an appropriately large sheet behind, and walk out.
I love these examples of $1, $2; almost everywhere else in the world uses coins for these because coins are way more fun
coins are way more fun
You tell that to the strip club that banned me!
You’re not supposed to hold them over a lighter before throwing them…
Strippers deserve fives, at least, come on
Sure! But then my “make it rain” kind of becomes a “make it drizzle slightly and only once”, which isn’t as fun!
Did you make it hail?
Hate coins. Always falling out of my pocket.
“So put it in the change pocket!”
Have you ever tried to get anything out of the change pocket while a line of people behind you waits to check out?
If not electronic, bills please. US needs to ditch all coins less than a quarter.
Change pocket? Do you by any means the condom pocket in jeans?
I put a condom in there once. Never got it out.
For both the reasons you’re thinking.
😋
Idk about America, but in the countries I’ve lived in, people put their cash in purses, wallets etc excepting weird jangly old men, and you would start off with notes of five or ten and up
has the US not invented wallets yet?
Uhh, yes. We have wallets. The things coins don’t fit in well and immediately fall out of.
Bills are better than coins, hands down.
I’ve never had any trouble with coins in any wallet I’ve used. As in: never had a coin fall out in decades of use
Maybe you’re thinking of a coin purse?
Any time I put coins in a billfold I make it rain like the world’s stingiest pervert.
My wallets always had compartments for bills, coins, cards and IDs
Wait, the tiny pocket within the regular pocket that some pants have is for change?
the “coin pocket” on jeans was actually for pocket watches back in the day. When jeans were called “waist overalls”.
Good luck cramming a pocket watch into one.
shrinkflation :(
Pretty expensive toilet paper.
There was a thing where you could buy dollar coins and pay with a credit card. They were sold at face value and the card would give a percent cash back, resulting in a net gain. They closed that loophole though.
Looked at doing that to get miles but it’s considered a cash advance and there’s a fee.
No that was the thing, it was a purchase not a cash advance. Most importantly there was free shipping on the coins. So what people were doing was buying the coins with their CC then depositing the coins in the bank to pay off the bill, thereby getting you free miles from your card, at no expense to you.
I believe the reason this promotion existed was an attempt by the government to get the dollar coins into circulation, but ended up being cobra effect situation because then the banks were just sending the coins back.
Yeah that was in the Dubya administration, with the “gold” Sacagawea coins.
Yep, those were as “gold” as the prevailing story about her is true. 🙃
Must be a running theme with women on the dollar coin. I’ve heard a lot of myths about Susan B. Anthony.
Ha! That’s what one gets for dying and becoming a cultural icon posthumously, eh? 🙃
Might be a thing about being on dollar currency. There’s a bunch of bullshit out there about George Washington.
There’s a bunch of bullshit out there about <insert historic persona>.
ftfy 😅
There is this old wives tale about how Wozniak used to use or sell sheets of uncut bills he always kept on hand, one time he got reported to the feds and the feds explained to the person “Steve Wozniak is a government contractor”. Funny guy.
As I heard it, he’d perforate sheets of two-dollar bills and tear them off. People nowadays might not even know there are two-dollar bills. Jefferson’s on 'em. Their circulation has been been in decline for decades because it’s simpler to use singles. So a smirking engineer ripping out a fresh rectangle of printed cotton started a lot of tense conversations.
I’ve never heard of a government contractor being a criminal……………………
are you stupid?
…
Whoosh ✈️
explain it then
It was an obvious joke. The ton of …… at the end was meant as the punch line. Meaning he’s heard of a ton .
yes clearly very obvious.
Based on the number of down votes, I would say everybody else was getting the joke and you weren’t
I’ve never understood the purpose of these sheets. Was this supposed to be convenient in anyway other than collecting? Are these pre-scored? If not what happens if you cut these are the wrong dimensions?
No you got it, just collecting. They kinda make for neat art.
As long as more than 50% is intact it still counts
Sounds like something fun/evil to do to fuck with people, give them slightly ill dimensioned, but completely legit bills.
Forever trying to square away the money in the cash registers.
