Words from Penelope: My brother was taken from this world far too soon — he was murdered. The pain of that loss is beyond words. But there is one thing that gives me peace: Jesus saved him the same month he died. That was no coincidence. That was grace. Jesus truly has power over death. He conquered the grave — and because of that, death doesn’t get the final say. My brother escaped death for many years as the Lord said No! He was waiting for him to receive salvation. Oh how wonderful and marvelous the Lord is. My brother’s body may be gone, but his soul is with Jesus. And one day, I’ll see him again. Grief is real. But God’s way of grieving includes hope. It includes the promise of eternity, comfort, and resurrection. I’m learning to bring my sorrow to the cross, to let His presence meet me in the pain, and to allow the Holy Spirit to carry what I can’t. If you’ve lost someone, especially in a tragic way, know this: Jesus is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). He wants to meet you in the pain and comfort you in your grief. Let him in! He is knocking at the door to your heart. If you open it, He will come in and live in and with you for eternity. Revelation 3:20.
