Yes. Apparently the YouTuber/Web Dev Theo from theo.gg very recently had his domain just…disappear? Due to the country delisting him or something along those lines…he was obviously, and understandably upset in a recent video he released on this subject.

Reality. Anyone who has suddenly had their perception of reality completely unhinged due to a mental, psychiatric, or spiritual crisis is likely to attest their exuberant appreciation simply for “the ground beneath my feet”
Well, the Buddha seemed to think trying to break out of the loop of endless new games was the goal afaik.

I was on Mastodon and Lemmy roughly a year before the Twitter and Reddit fiascos. I never was active on Twitter, never even had an account, but I’ll admit Reddit was my jam. I didn’t even use any of the 3rd party apps, I actually did use their main app and had no issues with it (except for the occasional annoying ad on my mobile device…). But when the needless greed of Spez started to show at the seams and the communities there started to divide, I took an afternoon to delete everything from nearly 4 years of posts/comments.
Both Mastodon and Lemmy were FAR less active prior to these migrations, and so I honestly checked in once every couple months. But then Mastodon started showing up in my main news feeds due to Musk’s idiocy, and I knew it was time…
Similarly, when Spez started to make the same decisions, I already knew where the party was likely to move.
I only started using Lemmy again yesterday when Memmy came out as I dislike using social media from my desktop (though I do occasionally).
It’s nice to see so much more activity here now. It’ll probably never get to the levels of Reddit, but hey that can be a good thing in its own right.
I’m in web dev, so I have a bunch of browsers. My main driver on my desktop is Librewolf with a bunch of extensions that make browsing the web enjoyable at best and tolerable at worst. I use DuckDuckGo Lite as my main search engine on all my browsers.
Other browsers I use are Brave (main browser on my mobile device). Vanilla Firefox (for web dev or logging in as Librewolf isn’t best for many aspects of web development and many sites trip up when you try to log in with LW). Ungoogled Chromium when Brave is too slow (Brave is slowest of the ones I use).
I also read news from the Links terminal browser. Yes the original Links Browser, not Lynx, or elinks, or links2, or w3m, etc.
I don’t use Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi, Edge. I use Safari sparingly just to be sure some of my sites are working on it. I have played around with Tor, but generally don’t have a need to set anything up on the Dark Web at the time of this writing, so yeah.
I do everything under the sun pretty much. Ublock origin, NoScript, chameleon extensions on Librewolf (and others). I “subscribe” to YouTube channels via rss feeds. Open up the newsboat feed reader from my terminal and an extension called “Alter” redirects me to an invidious instance. NoScript blocks everything pretty much as I just need the url. Then I use yt-dlp with the sponsorblock flag.
I only visit YouTube when I have a bunch of new “subs” that I found through word of mouth (reading blogs, HN, Mastodon, Lemmy, etc). I could just use invidious rss feeds, but if the instance goes down I would have to start all over again. There are other ways of achieving this same effect, but this is how I choose to consume yt now.
