I suspect a lot of yall should say this:
There is nothing worse than seeing my own flaws reflected in someone. Like, if they’re a lazy neckbeard who talks about niche media and old-sci-fi while contributing nothing to society.
Especially the flaws i had when i was younger. I die a bit every time i see an unaware selfish arrogant teenager.
And if everyone does that, eventually there will be a main community that emerges and the other ones die.
Washed dishes that had been sitting for a while. There was moist rotten food, and mold.
Everyone reading this, you should try as much as possible to never share a 300 sqft appartment with three male students during lockdown.
Yeah, a ton of people have tried their hand at turning Askreddit into videos. It’s a genre. I’ve watched a few of them because Askreddit is interesting and having this curated experience is even better.
However, as always with YouTube, if it’s easy to do then a lot of people are already doing it, so there’s a lot of channels doing this and most of them don’t go anywhere. A lot of times you can tell the process is as automated as possible.
The same thing will be done with Asklemmy when there’s enough content to support a channel
I follow a small number of people, browse the Followed feed in chronological order, and never miss a tweet from someone i follow.
I do not browse For You (algorithmic reccomendations), i do not keep up with drama, and i used uBlock to delete the Trending section from my sceen. I don’t get a lot of notifications, but if i did i’d have to get used to ignoring them.
This is the way. Twitter is inherently mediocre, but it is made interesting by the people on it, so if you follow the rules above you can have a pretty good time.
I would like to, but let’s be real, i had a question about a game today and i went to Reddit because that game deosn’t have a Lemmy community.
Reddit has more people, more content, and more history. Only an actual collapse will make Lemmy a superior alternative.
Honestly they do it so consistently that i’m starting to wonder if they have a choice.
A common way to do things for tech startups is that they get venture capital funds, use them to run the business at a loss hoping to acquire market dominance, and then use market dominance to turn a profit. I think a lot of tech startups that we know are currently in phase 2, meaning they’ve thrown money out the window for years and are now trying to recoup their investments.
Also, Reddit wants to go public and Twitter already is. This is relevant because investors are animals, all they see is short-term profit, and they use their voting power to make the company behave that way.
There’s a common thread between both my theories: it’s shareholder capitalism. I say this as a lifelong shareholder myself, shareholders ruin everything.
a few bold humans who I’ve caught plucking from the tree
Let them. You’re about to have more plums than you know what to do with, and yes leaving them there will get gross and attract all kinds of critters; you should encourage people to pick your plums, or pick them yourself and give them out. People are suggesting making jam and pies and such but that’s a lot of additional work compared to just dumping them on your neighbors.
For picking plums, i recommend using a broomstick or curtain rod to shake each branch, all the plums fall, you pick them up. This should be done a few times a year.
I thought the comments section would be filled with vapes.
Guys, i think vapes are a good candidate for something that hindsight will show us was dangerous, and i think images of teens smoking Juul will age as poorly as kids drinking beer.
