Just finished a 25 mile bike ride. Now I relax the rest of the day away. :)
“Woo-hooo! Woo-hooo! Woo-hooo!”
Forever etched in my brain
Or came up in my /r/fullmoviesonyoutube feed. Which reminds me, we need that community here…
Old school represent!
Seriously. I’ve written little things (batch files, scripts, python programs) over the years which saved me so much time at work or at home. Teach the computer to do the repetitive stuff so I don’t have to.
I used to work for a software company, whose clients were all the largest US defense contractors. Once, in a conference room meeting with about 20 important people from a client in the room, I was projecting, talking them through some slide deck. We got to the end, decided to take a break just before noon. I forgot I was still sharing my screen. I answered an instant message from a friend, asking if I could go out to lunch. I wrote, “no, can’t. Stuck in this long boring meeting for a few more hours” Some kind person tapped me on my shoulder and told me to stop projecting my screen pretty quick, but not until everyone in the room had read the message. I was reminded of that mistake for a long time after that day.
And I’m currently reading his newest novel, Termination Shock. Quite different, but still has that Stephenson sense of world building that I love.
I’m checking out vscodium this week, thanks to another lemee thread, and so far it’s great, without the MS surveillance.
But does it whip the llama’s ass?
I think not.
I was a teenager when 1 was made. It’s got that special place for me. As the years went by, it felt like they got further from that raw excitement the first movie had, and I got older. 3 (crystal skull) was different but I was too.
I hope these fit into the “Adventure” category: (to me, that’s a very broad term)
The Princess Bride
The Fifth Element
Indiana Jones (1 and 2)
I just watched this again recently. Glad to see it’s not been forgotten over time.
So they just used a pocket knife to open cans for 30 years? So dangerous…
This happened to me. When you didn’t know this is possible in windows, it takes a surprisingly long time to fix, but there’s no real damage done.
This, except for the part about cars. :) I get to see all over my town and the area at large first hand, breathe fresh air and get a workout. Cycling rules!
Pitfall, Yar’s Revenge, River Raid.
Hey person, I was in tech support for about 6 different companies, over 8 years. I left that to become a consultant. Best move, for me. It’s a lot like TS but you earn more and make money for the company, instead of being a cost center.
I taught myself some coding before I got my first job. JS and web technologies in my case. If you’ve been successful in TS for years, you could do this next.
Super informative, thanks!
