I’m selfhosting my instance for fun and not for profit. I’m using a server on Hetzner that costs me 4.11/mo. I’m the only active user of my instance, but I like to own my own data and selfhost my own services.

Yeah, I loved the golden age. Back when everyone had a Geocities homepage and just linked to each other’s sites. Back when getting a link to your homepage into the Yahoo index meant something.
I’m afraid not, short of running your own instance. Hopefully Lemmy will support user data export some day.
If the owner has a backup, you can always recover the instance, but otherwise everything is lost. That’s the downside of federation I guess.
The web version of lemmy works well for me so far. You can save it to your home screen. I have the same issues with Jerboa.
