Agreed on the watches. I had one smart watch (moto 360) and while cool was very gimmicky for actual functionality and I personally believe that was one of the best looking smart watches. Also the notification reason. My phone is on silent unless my spouse is out somewhere.
Honestly, this was one of the few kitchen gadgets that seemingly lived up to hype for me. We use ours all the time, even though our oven has convection mode which is essentially the same. The oven takes so long to warm up… where as the “air fryer” is up to temp super quickly. For a small family, the air fryer is used way more. In general I am opposed to kitchen gadgets that are supposedly saving you time or effort versus the “old” way of doing things.
Yup. I begrudgingly began using wireless headphones beacuse I don’t want to have to carry around an adapter to not use them once they killed 3.5mm on phones… Granted I really only use headphones while working out or mowing the lawn or something so it’s whatever. Still hate having to worry about having charged headphones, turning on Bluetooth, figuring out if my headphones are off or ok because of the awkward button pushes to turn them off, on or get into connect mode. It’s just overly complicated.
This is what I got: Some are more active than others.
Liftoff for me has been fantastic… I was a RIF user…
If you’re on android… Liftoff is really solid.
Pretty much. I feel like everything is out to track you and to try and sell you garbage products. And if your in the US you have no rights to tell these companies to remove your data. Unless your in California.
Seriously, it’s insane. Even more so than post 9/11 feeling.
But was that also spurred at least in part often times for the pursuit of profit? I don’t disagree, you have a good point!
Ah yes, the true B.C.
Some of my friends think I’m an idealist but I’d argue that’s the point. I vote for whatever would allow us to get to the Star Trek: TNG version of earth. A Post Scarcity society where humans want to better themselves and their communities through each individuals pursuit of their interests unrestricted by any “system”. To get there, I care about improving the lives of the entirety of humanity equally while doing away with the disparity inequality we see. It is undoubtedly true capitalism did raise the average QOL of many many people of the entire world, however, others it put into modern slavery.
Oh, you got a few I haven’t seen yet. Nice! Thank you.
Agreed. RIF hands down and several times over was my most used app of all time. It will be missed.
I uninstalled RIF this morning. I saw when I rated it on the play store saying that I loved using the app for reddit that I had recently started using… September 2011… Geeeeez. The feels.
Ive been here a few days the content is already a lot. Sub to communities. Start a community. Get to commenting, posting or even lurking! Be the change @havilland@lemmy.ml!
I’m running a barebones server for myself and a few communities (not many subs yet) which will run for less than a Starbucks coffee a month… (Assuming I don’t need more storage space… Lemmy seems pretty light. The main servers are gonna carry the load unfortunately… Beehaw.org had a transparency post about financials as of about a week ago they said something that their instance was costing like 50-75ish a month of I recall.
I’m using cloudzy VPS. It’s cheap but realized that smtp ports are blocked today… So gotta look into what to do about that if I want to use this instance beyond a private one. Email would be required for forgot passwords, registrations, etc…
Just guessing but… Ironically, post on /r/lemmymigration. Have clear rules and community expectations that tell people what your instance is about.
I’m self hosted too debating if I’m gonna open mine or keep it closed. I really did it as a learning experience, fun and curiosity. Hosting costs will barely be a Starbucks drink a month as is…
Hayden Panettiere, at the time I was an intern at a recording studio and lionsgate came in and filmed some studio scenes for the show Nashville at our place. Hayden walked in and was looking at this big fish tank that was by the front entry. I honestly had no idea who she was and started talked to her as she asked what type of fish our bright orange parrot fish was. After that she walked off to go get ready. I googled who was on the show later that night as I am totally aloof on anything on TV and actors/actresses in general didn’t realize till then I met her. She is really short, pretty and seemed nice.
Looking back my favorite part of that day was the craft food services truck(s) ulimited redbull and snacks. Also one of the camera guys I chatted up and learned he had done some work on Lord of the Rings, which I thought was really cool.
