VDI?
VDI?
If you use a proper password hash function, and some joker submits a million-character password, you’ve got a denial-of-service attack.
The limit doesn’t have to be 12 characters, but there does need to be a limit.
That’s the problem, really. Numerous companies do unspeakable evil, which makes it very difficult to name and shame any one of them.
Cast it into the fires of Mount Doom.
Insofar as BSD is very different. Linux emerged while BSD’s legal status was in serious doubt, and had already gathered considerable inertia by the time the court case ended, but the court case ended favorably for the BSD community, so we’d have ended up on that if not for Linux.
A lot of GNU software has some other FOSS equivalent that it can be replaced with. GCC, however, was basically the only production-worthy FOSS C/C++ compiler for a long time, until Clang came along.
Those prices don’t seem super horrible, but I don’t see any reason to trust that this company isn’t mining and selling my data in addition to collecting my money.
Theres also no ads, you are paying and are the customer.
This is a fallacy. Just because you’re paying doesn’t mean you’re the customer. Whoever pays the most money is the customer; everyone else is the product and is merely paying for the privilege of being the product. Examples: Microsoft Windows, most Android phones, cable TV.
Considering what happened to late-'90s search engines, that seems like a rather dangerous idea…
No. I’ve checked my inbox and profile page several times, but that’s it. Reddit is dead to me.
You don’t think you’ve used the freed-up brain capacity on other skills that are still useful?
Look around you. Look at all the uprisings that haven’t happened as a result of the latest round of extreme price gouging and resulting public impoverishment. Look at all the homeless people everywhere, sitting quietly in their tents and dying of starvation, instead of standing up and marching and demanding the employment and housing opportunities that they’ve thus far been denied.
No, society will not change to coexist harmoniously with AGI. The events of the last few years have made this abundantly clear. The whole point of creating AGI is to replace human labor and dispose of the vast majority of humans, and those humans are going to let it happen.
That’s a trick question. After the end of civilization as we know it, no amount of money will do anyone any good, and that end seems imminent. There will be no such thing as “fuck you” money; there will only be “might makes right”, and I am far from mighty.
If that exists, it’s curtains for humanity. Not because of the AGI itself killing us all, necessarily, but because that means human labor is forever obsolete and the vast majority of humans, including me, will soon starve to death on the street or be imprisoned for vagrancy.
So, I wouldn’t ask it anything, except maybe to recommend a suicide method.
Hope for the future, that the days of widespread ignorance would soon come to an end.
Fast forward 20 years, and misinformation is rampant and most people believe it without question. 🤦♂️
Don’t get too comfortable. Fascism is rapidly rising in your part of the world.
Nazis. Reddit has so many Nazis.
Beehaw user here. I see you.
The US varies widely. Some Americans in this thread tell you their tap water is squeaky clean. Meanwhile, there are places like Flint where the tap water not only is deadly but remains deadly even if you do boil it.
If domains don’t cost anything, what’s going to stop spammers from registering literally all of the domain names? Spam domains are already a huge problem, and I can only imagine that problem getting much worse if the gate is not kept.
