Yeah, I had RIF on the last 4+ phones as my primary drivers for reddit. So now, I’m on Lemmy. I miss some of the niche subs I was on that simply aren’t showing up here yet, but it’s a good opportunity to reduce my “reddit obsession”.
Fwiw, most features they release with dlc are free. The paid dlc is mostly just extra skins and ornaments. Much better than a lot of other games imo
But as a game it’s still hard to get into and stay on top. Klang killing hours of work because i forgot to save gets old
IDK if it’s boomer. I’m not sure anyone likes feeding frenzies. I’m on a list with 3000 members for a product the guy releases 20-30 per month, and most members of the list want 10 each. I’d do a 6-month backorder if I could.
Hmm… Weird. I kinda figured the “Local/Subscriptions/All” toggle would be what defined if I’m checking Federated, and not the “Community/Comments/Posts/All” toggle. I understand the “URL” option if I want to search for a URL. I guess maybe it treats a federated community as a URL even if it’s typed as a community?
I’m on Mastadon as well, and for some reason never tripped up on this. But I’m not sure I’ve sought out any remote communities in Mastadon like that.
It shows some remote communities, but far from all of them. I think it’s either based on other people in your server having subscribed to one, or opt-in at the admin level.
I’ve had to manually find my way to several communities I was interested in.
lol! What format are you using? The reddit-like link format? That’s standard markdown I think.
Is it a bug, or defined behavior for a reason I just don’t quite grok yet?

Looks like I have to explicitly look for “All” and not “Communities” for some reason. “All/All” instead of “Communities/All”
…no. That does work. But why? When you search on the “Communities” page it automatically sets the category to “Communities”.
Actually did that and got zero results in lemmy.ml. Which was baffling to me.
The other way that works is clicking your name and then clicking the community in your “Moderates” box. Which proved to me that this instance can see your instance. If seeing your username wasn’t enough for that.
Subbed, though as a newb to Lemmy it’s a bit difficult.
Since wizjenkins isn’t subbed by my server, !pathfinder1e@lemmywizjenkins.com was not showing up for me. I had to hand-build the /c/pathfinder1e.com into my lemmy.ml.
I feel like I’m either missing something, or it’s something that lemmy could do slightly better.
I tried so hard with LOTR. Especially because I saw how much hate WoT got (despite WoT now being my favorite show, and 6 or 7 rewatches in) and I wanted to give it its fair shake. It didn’t work for me, and I’ll probably be late to the game for S2, but I don’t think all the hate for either was justified.
Since nobody else had (in my network) I added !wotshow@lemmy.ml and !wheeloftime@lemmy.ml. If I don’t see a community I want, I plan to try to add one. I’d like to drive enough activity in lemmy that I don’t mind losing reddit.
Bingo. That’s what r/exatheist is for me. Both extremes usually get talked down by the mods who tend to be fairly even-keel. Slightly undermoderated (both sides get away with just enough to not feel like anyone is getting stifled… as long as they don’t go full-insult)
The other sub I like (but only lurk) is radicalchristian. I’m not Christian, but I love the way they look at the world and their religion.
A couple, I think. WoTshow is one I really liked. And exatheist is a tiny sub where a bunch of people who were once atheists of all different religions talk religious philosophy.
Yeah, in my state when you win they have a picture of you holding a check that airs on rotation on every lottery machine for months.
