Lemmings, KBiners, Fedi… Folk? I don’t know.
The Grudge. The Japanese original and the US ones.

I live in Flensburg, Germany at the border to denmark. Everything here has a scandinavian flair. Nice, old buildings. Beautiful little streets. Beaches. People are really nice…
Yeah. I like living here.
Arch Linux, since 2012. Before that, I ran Lubuntu, Ubuntu and some other stuff since ~2004.
I have a rudimentary one going on.
Lemmy-ing in the shower? Good one.
I always sit down in the shower. Always. Pretty good feeling. In fact, I just did it, 5-10 minutes ago.
Well, I run an instance, too. It’s not big at all, but I was thinking about the issue of scaling, too. You can only scale up a single server so much…
But on the other hand, Lemmy is still young. We’ll find solutions to that problem.
Also, interesting article. I only took a glance at it, but having only two tables kind of suggests that Reddit is using a relational database. So, if they’re not “normalizing” everything, why not use a completely different paradigm, like what MogoDB etc. has?
I used to be pretty active on Reddit and I kinda became more and more “sour” and unfriendly over there, because the whole community just dragged me down for some reason.
Here, it’s like a breath of fresh air and most people are actually quite nice. Topics have finally become more interesting and there’s no such thing as an echochamber. Critical thinking seems to be possible here, as well.
So yes, I became way more active again since I’m on Lemmy. Also, I host my own instance and I put a lot of effort into it, so I want it to be in good standing with other instances. Participating in friendly conversations will help with that.
But you’re doing it right now. 🤔
Hey, there. This should solve your problem, I guess:
docker compose down
docker compose up -d postgres
docker compose exec postgres psql -U lemmy
UPDATE local_site SET private_instance = 'f' WHERE id = '1';
\q
docker compose up -d
Let me know if that worked or not.
Edit for shorter version: docker compose exec postgres psql -U lemmy -c "UPDATE local_site SET private_instance = 'f' WHERE id = '1';"
Then restart lemmy.
I don’t think you’re offensive at all. People have different tastes.
Well, you could totally host your own instance and write your own replacement UI for it.
Or use a client for your OS. There’s one for Linux and several for Android and iOS.
I personally don’t consider the UI “dated” or “old” at all. I really like it. It’s rough around the edges, yes. But “old”? No. I just want something that’s fast and not the sh*tshow that’s new Reddit.
Looking at the Wim Hof website, I get scam vibes.
I run an instance, which hasn’t got much traction yet. It’s okay for me, if it does or if it doesn’t. At the moment, I’m financing it myself and I’m not asking for donations.
Well, there’s this "mega"thread…
Makes sense.
Seems to be a problem with sh.itjust.works, I think.
