Cake day: June 2nd, 2023

  • Same. I’ve been very careful, I still wear a mask out in public (and probably will continue to do so, it’s so good not getting the usual malady around august and the occasional cold, plus it helps me avoid speaking to people). I’ve been to concerts, packed bars, etc., scot-free. Even went abroad and spent 12h+ beside a dude who was hacking his lungs out on a plane.

Ended up catching it in the gym, probably while taking my mask off to hydrate. First day was uncomfortable, bit of a headache. Thought it was a mild migraine but it was a little different. Masked up at home and isolated just in case. Second day was the worst. Didn’t eat, could barely sleep, spent the day in bed just groaning. Fourth day I was completely fine, just an annoying cough. Kept myself masked up and isolated until the 14th day when I went to finally test myself and got negative.

H1N1 was worse for me, but it’s not an experience I want to repeat anyway.

  • I used Boost exclusively. Great app with a lot of costumization and the ads weren’t intrusive. I’ll blow my dad before I ever use the official app. It’s slow, comments take ages to read, and there’s a million ads.

At this point, I won’t return to reddit event if they were to roll back the changes and made ammends. I’d put money on them fucking up the experience further down the line.

  • I wish. I speak spanish natively and english to a level I will codeswitch, very inconvenient among the older generation. I also learnt italian up to a B1 (and pass as italian, if the amount of people asking where from italy I’m from is any indication) and have a passing knowledge of german, enough to grasp the meaning of anything written down, as long as it’s not too complex.

Coding wise? Unless you consider html, css, and rudimentary knowledge of javascript coding, I’m not computer fluent.

  • Damn, I overenunciate (compared to my local accent) some sounds because otherwise people have a harder time understanding my speech. Not that I have a speech impediment, I just talk fast, mumble through some words out of hurry and I’m kinda quiet. People have noted that I do that but it’s only to make sure people understand what I’m saying, having to repeat myself makes it uncomfortable for both of us.

Used to, but I’ve managed to keep it under control. For reference, I have ADHD, and due to my carreer and hobbies I spend most of the day in front of a screen. I’ve gotten the algorithms from sites and apps I use to favor media on the longer side and have no issues sticking to it, or reading for long periods of time. Since I started taking medication for ADHD, it’s gotten even better still. Though I won’t lie, when reading I often had to read the same thing twice or thrice because I didn’t really read it.

  • I’m not sure I’m feeling the mental health benefits yet (today I did get an endorphin rush however, first time in a while), but I’ve been back for a very short time. Dealing with some injuries and post covid symptoms now, mostly endurance related, as well, which hasn’t been fun but eh, I’ve been worse. At the very least I’ve gone down a few sizes and look okay in most of my wardrobe. Though I will say, I did miss pull day.

Agree on the scary thoughts. I’m not much of a social person and have committment issues, I’d be a terrible mod, lol.

  • Not really. My most visited subs on reddit (fuck spez) were Rimworld, Zomboid, Hunt Showdown and various hobby/profession subs (graphic design, illustration, itap, photography). I’m fairly confident a UX/UI sub will pop up sooner rather than later considering how techie Lemmy’s userbase seems to be. Iirc there is a gaming related comm on beehaw, but the odds those three games will be talked about is rather slim.

Edit: also, Swoleacceptance. Recently got back to the gym due to mental health. Was a gym rat years ago but life got in the way.
