It boggles the mind that people won’t just install WhatsApp or Signal or Telegram or anything of the sort, and would rather exclude people from group chats or deal with a worse experience. I mean, it’s not that big of an ask! I’m sure most people have more than one app on their phone that just sits there and wastes space, why not replace it with one of those? Heck, even Facebook’s Messenger could be an alternative.

I don’t think downvotes, as they are now, are for any particular purpose other than showing the poster you don’t like the post. What I mean to say is that limiting downvotes for off topic stuff isn’t enforceable and poor quality content is pretty subjective. Not sure if you are aware of the bean posts recently, but I didn’t like them and would consider them poor quality memes. Almost everyone else loved them though, which is totally fine, but I still downvoted those.

Anyone armed with critical thinking skills will eventually reason themselves out of echo chambers, just like your story proves! Although I feel like the ban was more due to the admins of the sub than the downvotes. There are communities where downvoted content isn’t removed if it doesn’t break any rules, those are the ones people should look for.

Your example is flawed because the hard drive is also hardware and can also develop problems aside from everything else. I feel like a closer match would be information stored on the cloud, but that’s just someone else’s hard drive, so… Yeah, I find the concept of a soul very weird.

I’d add in a right to connectivity. Not having the internet is a giant disadvantage in today’s society.

I could see an interpretation of this where the government doesn’t make it illegal for you to own any weapon but makes selling them illegal. After all, it’s not infringing on your right to have them, it just regulates the market for weapons, which isn’t forbidden by the letter of the law.

You may laugh, but it was actually a visual novel for me, Fate/Stay Night. The main theme of it is the relationship between ideals and reality and how they aren’t always compatible, as well as how you can deal with that.

It made me think about my ideals and values, and whether they are worthwhile. I came to the conclusion that following them is worth it even if they are flawed and even if they can never be truly achieved.
