Humans can, in fact, create art without having seen others do it first. (e.g.: cave paintings from several millennia ago)
I don’t understand why anyone would assume humans only have the same creative capabilities as a computer when we have free will and all that good stuff that comes with being a conscious, intelligent living being.
Operating a small art/manufacturing studio. Designing and hand-crafting things out of cloth, wood, metal, etc. would be the ideal situation (as long as I could still pay the bills with it.)
AI is trained by analyzing artists’ work and then instructed to replicate art in a particular style, therefore, from the beginning of the process it wouldn’t be original.
If an AI could create art without being fed galleries of images first and develop its own style that might be considered original.
Coincidentally, I know someone who recently applied for a regular teacher’s assistant role and when they got to the interview the hiring director didn’t even ask questions about that position; instead they interviewed for a special ed job and then only offered that. It was a total bait & switch to try and fill a role nobody was applying for.
I got to stage dive at a packed concert, like 4 times. There were a bunch of other people doing it and it seemed like the band playing was even encouraging people to, so I just had to squeeze my way to the front of the crowd and climb up on stage to try it myself. It was just as much fun as I imagined. The other people there were really cool about it too and helped jumpers get caught/let down safely
I don’t normally game on mobile but I occasionally play AlphaBetty. It’s like a bubble pop/scrabble hybrid game
Just do a small fraction of what needs to be done. If I commit 1-2 minutes to the task I’ll likely do more once I actually get going.
“Somewhat lacking” is putting it nicely. I mainly browse lemmy on Jerboa and it doesn’t even have a function to search community posts, let alone one that is lacking.
They were great. I think it was around 2015-2016, and I still have a Chon pin from the show too!
Legitimately almost every genre, as long as I’m the mood. Lately tho I’ve mostly been listening to The Fall of Troy, Blink-182, Dance Gavin Dance, This Town Needs Guns, and good ole Pro Era artists like Capital Steez and Joey Bada$$.
Woah, I’ve actually been to a Chon show. Totally didn’t expect to see that band pop up in this thread
One perspective I’ve heard before and I find interesting is (paraphrased) that we, as humans, are the result of a universe yearning to know itself. (I’m sure there’s more but that’s the jist of it.)
It could be that our consciousness isn’t specifically human, it just inhabits the bodies best able to experience and learn about the world we exist in.
A few times on psychedelics I did. On mushrooms I had a strong sense that I was in harmony with nature, on lsd felt more in harmony with myself, and on mdma in harmony with the people around me. Haven’t touched the stuff in years but I do feel like my experiences shaped my outlook on life in some ways I never would have thought of before.
Ah, alright. It’s good to work towards ridding yourself of an addiction, but it needs to be replaced by a healthier alternative. It sounds to me like you would benefit from nore social stimulation. Maybe join a hobby club or group of some sort, then you can involve yourself more in that where you get a different kind of satisfaction from learning / doing something new.
I know that sounds cheesy but there are tons of things going on besides digitally; check out what’s happening locally, there are probably other people who want to change up their habits with something different too and summer is a great time to do it. At the very least you could start cutting back the amount of time you spend on YouTube and work some other things into your daily routine.
I’m sorry but could you describe your YouTube addiction? I just don’t understand how someone can be addicted to YouTube or how FOMO happens in that scenario.
Most satisfying comment in the thread. A true “fuck around and find out” story
Automotive maintenance. I like working on cars, but I really can’t bring myself to learn how to fix everything. I just do the simple stuff like tires and air filters
Damn, straight up doxxed a fella. Cold af
Busuu is neat. It has a feature to submit answers to the community so native speakers can correct speaking/writing and give tips.
