French-Canadian here! If you like prog rock, you should check out Harmonium! I recommend their album “Si on avait besoin d’une cinquième saison”, here’s my favourite song of theirs.

To plug a more contemporary artist, P’tit Belliveau is an Acadian artist from Nova Scotia who does stuff influenced by traditional Acadian folk but with a lot of modern pop and electronic sound. I absolutely love everything he puts out, but check out RRSP/Grosse Pièce. His music videos are always stellar as well.

God Bobcaygeon is such a good song. I’m not a huge Hip fan (I know, I know, sacrilegious to say as a Canadian) but I’ll always bop to Bobcaygeon. It inspires such a feeling of nostalgic melancholy. Makes me want to go hug someone I love or something.

Heck you don’t even have to use your imagination, just look at Russia currently. There are reports that they’re importing household appliances to strip them of their microchips for use in military contexts.

Like you say, reliance on a highly globalized technological market is the result of historically anomalous geopolitical stability.

Yeah I posted know this question had been asked in the past few days, but maybe a mod here could make a daily post for new communities? There’s going to be a lot of new communities created in the next few days, so it’d be neat to have a daily post to help with discovery, either here or on another of the larger communities.

Right, as long as your instance’s server is up, you should be able to interact with any content using ActivityPub.

Thanks! I figured that the user numbers on here are probably still too small to start fragmenting into cycling subcommunities, so just calling it “bicycles” felt like the most generalist option.
