Wow, that’s an impressive list! Did you meet them through work? What sort of work do you do?
Thank you to Apollo, Gavin Nelson and Matthew Skiles for the beautiful avatar and banner pictures.

I’m excited for the rapid development of apps for Lemmy. I’m on iOS and have been checking out Voyager (Wefwef), Avelon, Memmy, Mlem and Thunder, and they are all smashing it!
I disagree with you, but gave you an upvote for sharing your opinion.
There are strange things done in the midnight sun
I found this small experiment, someone recorded on Physics StackExchange.
I also found this computer modelling, but I’m not familiar with the source (Altair.)
I have no leaning either way, and would welcome more data on the topic.
Thanks very much mate!
Oh that’s good to hear. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Philpo explained it well.
I’m currently using Home Assistant as my integration platform to talk to everything, and as an automation engine to make things happen.
Home Assistant can then expose your devices to other platforms like Apple HomeKit and Google Home.
For controlling things manually, I mostly use the Apple Home app, and Siri and Google Assistant for voice control.
This year the Home Assistant developers are focusing heavily on building out native and local voice control. There will be an announcement in a week on their progress. It looks like they will be announcing the ability to use wake works to activate voice commands (like Google/Siri/Alexa but all done without compromising your privacy).
Cheers! I have been thinking about a Litter Robot, haven’t been willing to fork out the cash yet though. How do you rate it?
It does take up a lot of time, but I’ve found it really rewarding.
Was there more functionality through HomeKit Controller?
I’ve thought about running the air purifier when the cats use the tray, but haven’t done it yet. What do you use to detect the cats?
Home Assistant, a powerful home automation platform.
Agreed. Anything that pops up in front of the content I want to see, can fuck off!
I have never upgraded every year, I used to every two years, then three. Now I’ve had my iPhone 11 for almost four years, and I’m planning to keep it for 5. It will probably still get new OS updates for another 1 year after that (total of 6).
There is no reason to update your phone every year.

Unpopular opinion but, Avatar 2: The Way of Water. While it was mostly visually stunning, the writing was just “too painful”.
A possible issue is that on you have your language set incorrectly on mobile.
Go to your instance > Profile > Settings > Languages
Ensure both Undetermined, English and any other languages you speak are selected.
Glad you got it fixed mate, and appreciate you taking the time to post the resolution.
Hmm, that’s weird. I don’t have a Lemmy.ml account but I can see 15 posts on their copy of askscience: https://lemmy.ml/c/askscience@lemmy.world
Could it be a caching issue on your device?
Another thing that could be effecting that is if you have Show Read Posts disabled in your user settings. That might explain why the number of posts went down.
That’s really cool, thanks for sharing your stories!
