The Super Mario movie is probably top of the list. The jokes fell flat and the entire movie was just Nintendo references. I get it’s a kid movie, but damn, Pixar knows how to make a movie for all ages. I guess I was hoping for the same.

I visited an abandoned roadside attraction in Thailand. It was a replica of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, but it looks like it was never completed and now sees only the occasional tourist. There are shops and things right next to it, so maybe it’s more semi-abandoned.

I think I rattle off the fancy places because they’re the big ones that stick out in my mind, but I’ve also had that feeling just being out in nature close to home. Feeling the stillness of the forest can be just as powerful in your backyard.
I’m the opposite of spiritual so the closest I’ve experienced is that euphoric feeling you get when you see unparalleled beauty in nature. Places like the Grand Canyon, Grand Tetons, Yukon, Alaska, volcano in Guatemala, and some waterfalls in Mexico are a few that spring to mind.
I have the opposite of Spidey sense and will frequently forget I’m cooking something if I don’t set a timer.
Good call man, get well soon!
Yeah, it’s going to suck. Your mouth will be pretty sore, a bit foul, and tasting bloody. I’d give the concert a pass and save yourself the headache.
More now than I did two weeks ago. I just recovered from a bout of Typhoid Fever / mystery bacterial infection in Cambodia.
First off, do what you can to not fail out of high school. The job market can be tough, it’ll be even tougher with no diploma.
As for money, I’d recommend flipping items on marketplace / Facebook. Lots of people out perfectly serviceable furniture, appliances, and electronics that may need small repairs or a good deep cleaning. If you have a vehicle, that might be a good source of some income.
Towards the end, the ones I read felt blatantly obvious just from the title. “Hey guys I said, “That’s not ok!” to my MIL because she drop kicked my toddler in the face for crying, AITA?”
Nah, I laugh it off. English is her second language.
Actually just realized there is a listentothis community already, woo!
That is hilarious, I’m sure you could have heard a pin drop in that moment. My wife still calls me by her ex’s name on rare occasion… We’ve been married 7 years. 😅
Yes, I absolutely loved listentothis. I think it was sort of losing user interaction towards the end but it was so great to comb through previous years to find great music.
We should definitely get another one up and running!
I’ll really miss the location specific subreddits, those were super useful when travelling to find stuff only local redditors knew about. It helped get you off the beaten path.
I’m new here myself but as I understand it, defederation essentially separates that instance from the rest of the “lemmy-verse” by not allowing users created on that instance to interact and post to other lemmy instances.
You can still go to exploding heads and create a user there to post within that space. That user just won’t be able to interact with other lemmy instances that don’t federate to it. Maybe it’s less censorship and more of a refusal to associate with certain content.
Someone more knowledgeable please feel free to correct any errors, lol.
It’s probably the same for me. I played, quit, and restarted Diablo II so many times since middle school. It just has a replayability factor after you’ve been away from a few years.
