The story of a young woman preserved by God’s unfailing love after the foundations in her church crumbled under the weight of manipulation and abuse.
Church was the pillar of Maycie’s life and the congregation was her spiritual family. Discovering praise dance and worship music as a young girl deepened her faith, and is how she came to understand that her artistry was her ministry.
As she matured, she began to sense that something was off in her church atmosphere. But she often denied her own discernment. Before she could fully understand what was happening, God began the work of pulling her out.
After Maycie relocated from Montreal to London, separated from all that she had ever known, the twisted truth about her longtime pastor was exposed. Depressed and suicidal, she could no longer cling to the security of her former identity. That’s when she reached for Jesus and developed deeper roots in Him — rather than the people she had put so much hope in.
In the midst of darkness, new dimensions of Christ as protector and provider were revealed to her. The power of forgiveness and the peace of God are what allow her to stand firm in her faith today.
